with your shiny new hosting and control panels today we are going to be looking at a few of the installers for software that we need you to explore
with that in mind we will be
- ftp recap to upload your front pages
- installing wordpress and punbb manually to understand what is going on in the background when the installers are working
- installing a number of other forums with the control panel
- exploring the software you have installed to get a feel for them
- looking at bb code
- looking at avatars and gravatar
- updating the front page of your sites to include the links to the new installs
for next week you should have
- placed links to each others sites on the index page of your new sites AND on your blogs
- setup at least one working forum on a theme of your choice and posted material to it
- you should also have posted at least twice to each of the other peoples chosen forums in the group
- reflected on and recorded your thoughts about the software , the installers and the activity of updating the html for your index page vs using the software
