VLC has got me out of many a tight spot playing videos that quicktime stumbles on – the problem was that it was always a bit clunky and awkward – classic open source in fact
well VLC has just reached v2.0 and it’s sleek cool and plays even more – just last night it played things even the old vlc refused to touch

its been completely overhauled and adds loads of new features
highly recommended

it should include a full breakdown in a spreadsheet of what exactly what you are doing and when – this is being assessed so get it right – otherwise read the msg – you have this week to do this, we do not need to see you in college till friday (see below), just get your head down and get this done and handed in – we will start in earnest next week

andy and I briefed you on what you need to do this week – this MUST be done before next week

year two you will be doing presentations on monday with me, year one on tuesday with andy

the four things which MUSt be done are

1. set up a wordpress blog to use throughout the whole of the second semester – year two set up a clean new on your hosting – simple and easy to use is the requirement , year one either use your own hosting if you have it or go to wordpress,com and set up a free one there – it should be easy to use so you actually use it – ONCE YOU HAVE DONE THIS YOU SHOULS EMAIL ME THE ADDRESS – use it for all modules, things that interest you, your work things you see etc etc
2. go and see the 3d printing exhibition at the adam gallery this week (see this earlier post from andy) PLUS at least one other show – talk about them on your blog
3. prepare a short presentation of cool – find things neither andy or I know about – this means don’t show the iPad or youtube, it just needs to be cool and explain why: it goes fast , or it has lots of buttons are NOT reasons – include the following
• 5 cool websites
• 5 cool videos/animations
• 5 cool pieces of graphic design
• 5 cool products
4. download and install cinema 4d R13 – get the 30 day demo from maxon website – we are moving over to R13 immediately and there are significant changes that will need some time for you to get used to
