Digital Narrative Exercise
Today, download the footage located in folder 108 DN_footage.
1/ Choose one piece of footage and using a 1 minute long section, storyboard every shot and record the camera movement for each shot.

PDF storyboard panels x6 or x4 can be found in the same folder.
2/ Exactly choose two 30 second pieces of footage and edit them together using alternate shots from each piece to create a new 1 minute long narrative.
We will gather together at the end of the session to view the results.
MONDAY: Digital Narrative/ LSDS
For this coming Monday afternoons Digital Narrative session (+LSDS) you need to bring 3 things for the lesson:
1 a digital stills camera

2 clothing (which you’ll wear and photograph) that demonstrates something about class and another piece about gender

3 at least one newspaper from this week
We are going to start experimenting and combining ideas from different sources to create new outcomes.
film and video for mobile devices
![]()
interesting event about people making film and video pieces (not you tube) specifically for mobile devices – phones, ipods, pda etc and with lots of you 3rd years making video based double projects I would suggest this is a really interesting approach that would provide the element of uniqueness some of your ideas are perhaps missing
cga project designed for mobile devices anyone??
and even if your projects are not video based this type of work will help inform your ideas with a contemporary currency that makes a big difference to your employability and more in 6 months time
of course not just relevant to third years
free to attend but you need to register

assignment 1
this is really important – while Nick is off I need to be sure that you are still progressing your projects so for my own benefit and also for your own I need you all to summarise your projects so I can feed back into them and I would also like you to look at each others to see if there is anything you can add
to this end I have added a forum – it ’s at
http://kcdigitalarts.com/forum
full instructions are on the forum
you will need to register for this – link is in the nav bar of the forum this login is for the forum only at present
the link is also in the side bar
I need this doing TODAY – thursday 26th april
important software you need
you will all need to get hold of some way of extracting video from protected disks – not of course to copy but to analyse and present in presentations and seminars
there are many ways to do this all on the edge of legality, what I use is Handbrake
this is available at
http://handbrake.m0k.org/
and all you unfortunate PC users now also have the PC companion application mediafork available at the same place
highly recommended
